Founded in 1893, Enfield was originally a manufacturer of firearms, such as the legendary Lee Enfield rifle. They made bikes in single and twin cylinder configurations through the early seventies, and the Indian portion of the company continues to make the Enfield Bullet single to this day in Madras, India. Their slogan “Made Like a Gun” reflected the original arms manufacturing purpose of the company. The Meteor and Interceptor twin cylinder models were highly respected in their day.
